One of the most popular Andean walking. Was used as a highway by the early Aymara, the Inca and the Spanish. It continues serving as a major route to Yungas. Short and easy to follow the trek, crosses some of the best preserved Pre – Hispanic paving in South America. From the pass above Mina San Francisco, the trail is all downhill. Takesi trail counts with visitors and Bolivians especially on holyday and weekends.
Driving gives great views of Illimani and Mururata, as well as passing very close to the strange fluted mud formations of the Valle de las Animas.
Day 01: LA PAZ – TAKESI We will leave the city of La Paz by private transportation (2 hrs.)up to the San Francisco mines; we will start walking through an ascent (1.30 hrs.) up to the passing at 4.650 mts. above sea level. Then descent to the Takesi town (3.800mts.), night camping.
Day 02: KACAPI – CHOJLLA MINES From now on we will begin the descent along this Pre Inka path, getting deeply to the tropical sub vegetation of Yungas, until Kacapi (5:30 hrs.) we will camp at 2.800 mts. above sea level.
Day 03: CHOJLLA MINES With an easy 3 hrs walk we will arrive to the mine of Chojlla (2.500 mts. above sea level). Return to the city of La Paz by private transportation 2 hrs.
Good shape and good resistance in the effort of the altitude requires Chacapampa trek an acclimatizing process is essential in order to have a nice expedition.

Our guides are qualified to solve any problem during the trekking. The guides speak Spanish and English.
LLama, donkey or mule will carry the equipment, food, tents, during the trekking.
Trekkers should carry their personal equipment.
We have camping equipment like North Face or Mountain Hardware tents, dinning tents, toilet tent; those are included during the excursion.
The trekking techniques are walking in a slow step without to lose the speed.
Our experienced cook three meals a day during the expedition. We have two kind of food vegetarian and no vegetarian. Dried fruit or energetic bars are recommended.
